We’re getting closer to the launch of our new site, and we’re excited to show you what we’ll be doing. One goal is to be as inclusive as possible in the people we spotlight in Q&As, profiles, guest columns and general coverage. Our hope is to build a community, not a club. That means all sorts of different people, doing all sorts of different things, with all sorts of different views and backgrounds.
Earlier we asked for guest column submissions and suggestions, and we received some great responses. You’ll see some of the results once the site is up. Now, as we continue to work on content, we’d like to ask another question:
Who are the top women in Seattle technology?
We have quite a few in mind already, based on people we’ve learned about and gotten to know on our beats over the years. To be truly inclusive, we’d like to get suggestions, as well. We’re thinking not only of women in leadership roles at Seattle-area startups or larger tech companies, but also those in the trenches in engineering, research, or working at technology-related service firms. Top-notch technology bloggers, too. Anyone with a unique background, an interesting perspective or a good story to tell.
Thanks for thinking it over. Please contact us or comment below with any ideas.

I wish there were more true female entrepreneurs on this list, like Alyssa and Ksenia. Lots of capable VPs and other execs - just not enough fire starters !!

Definitely second the nomination for Janis Machala - she has been a steady driver for tech ever since I can remember - definitely providing fuel for lots of fires!
Here are a couple of other deserving leaders:
Villette Nolon, CEO HomeSavvi.com, CEO NetReflector, also VP at SafeHarbor, past chair MIT Enterprise Forum of the NW
Val Sanford, VP Product & Marketing at Zango, also key player at Singlestep, Network Commerce. Trailblazer in ecommerce and online communities.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. We have been adding these names to a list and hope to reach out some of the folks once we get the site live.

15 Shivonne Byrne // Nov 10, 2008 at 5:38 pm
Hi - Janis said “Shivonne Byrne, first VP Marketing at Visio and now head of enterprise branding/messaging at Visio.”
First part is true, but as a point of clarification, I’m now head of Enterprise Branding and Content at Microsoft - where I’m also editor-in-chief of Microsoft’s annual CEO Summit.
